PROFILE

It's no secret that Alan Forbes has made quite a name for himself in the world of low-brow art. With his unique take on just about everything, Forbes has made huge strides and grabbed the attention of many in a relatively short period of time.

Forbes seems to move effortlessly from working on canvas and painting found objects to creating silkscreened concert posters and undertaking commercial art jobs.

His close association with the rock world began with his first commercial job designing the logo for rock band The Black Crows. Since then, he has also designed numerous album covers and concert posters for acts such as 311, Queens of the Stone Age, Electric Frankenstein and The Phantom Surfers. Web surfers take note: Forbes created all of the artwork for Ozzy Osborne's website.

Heavily influenced by horror movies, Mad Magazine and hot rods, Forbes' striking images have been shown in galleries in Boston, Los Angeles, London and France. His most recent showing in January 2009 at the famous La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles featured his newest oil paintings.

Forbes and his art have been featured in magazine articles, most recently in the low-brow art bible Juxtapoz.

Always in demand, Alan makes his home again in San Francisco. He began his career in Los Angeles painting displays for Tower Records and touring with Guns n' Roses as a roadie.
